sla-logo-2015030smallpng2This NVQ is for you if you want to gain Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Membership. You will need a high level of autonomy and you will be responsible for managing other people. The NVQ includes management skills and behaviours as well as strategy, change management, improvement, implementation and the traditional purchasing and contract roles. To encompass the supply chain the NVQ also covers materials management and logistics. To be able to collect the evidence of competency, the candidate must be operating at a senior level within the Purchasing discipline. An essential requirement is the knowledge and understanding associated with the chosen elements and students are expected to demonstrate this at the time of assessment. Students are expected to join CIPS as a Student or Associate to support their development and access the CIPS resources. NVQ Requirement. The Level 4 NVQ has a requirement that 10 units are completed. Each unit will have a number of sub sections (Elements) as well as specific Performance and Knowledge / Understanding criteria which the candidate must demonstrate. There are 5 mandatory units which apply to all candidates, which cover core management skills.There are 26 Optional Units covering the remainder of the SCM requirements. Recognising the CIPS specific requirements, candidates wishing to gain CIPS accreditation must follow the requirements 1-3 as specified below: The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply NVQ Position Statement. The Level 4 NVQ in Supply Chain Management will provide a route to MCIPS with certain conditions:  
    • Candidates must take 5 Mandatory Units
 
    • Candidates must take 3 units from M5 - M19 (identified as those most relevant to CIPS)
 
    • Candidates must take 2 other units from M5 - M27
 
  • Candidates must have at least three years experience in a position of responsibility in purchasing and supply management, in accordance with the QCA level descriptor for Level 6. (Leading and Influencing in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management in Practice and Strategic Supply Chain Management)
